Final qualifying for the second round of the MCE Br꧙itish Superbike Championship has been cancelled as a result of heavy rain at Thruxton.

The decisive session was scheduled to commence at 3.15pm but a series of delays were implemented to allow track inspections to be carried out by series director Stuart🐼 Higgs and the final decision was finally announced shortly before 4.30pm.

Standing water on a fast section of the circuit from Village to Church was causing grea🤪test concern.

Grid positions for Sunday's ra⛦ces will be determined based on the combined times from the free practice sessions already held.

That leaves Samsung Honda's Alex Low♎es on pole from rookie PJ Jacobsen on the Tyco Suzuki with Shane Byrne third on the Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki after the trio led the way in the dry second free practice session.

Tyco Suzuki's Josh Brookes completes the fron♌t row of the𒁃 grid.

Higgs, who was joined by British Supersport champion Glen Richards during inspecti🐎ons of the course, told BSB Radio: "Norman Williamson our MCRCB safety delegate and Adrian Johnstone our MCRCB chief steward and I have assessed the circuit.

"We are not in a position to restart so we have cancelled MCE BSB qualifying and the grid will be formed from the combined result from free practices, wh📖ich will be interesting with Alex [Lowes] and PJ [Jacobsen] starting at P1 and P2.

"Glen [Richards] has worked with us for some years as a representative of the riders so he's a good independent advocate to help assess the conditi🐷ons.

"He and I are of a simi🌞lar mind at the minute... it's not satisfac🧸tory for racing.

"When you're talking about speeds of 145mph from Village to Church through standing water and with the dif🐼ferent lines riders take through there, it would be a very difficult♉ situation if a rider was on the wrong side of the track with water that hasn't dispersed," he added.

"The marshals have worked hard and done a great job but it's not satisfacto꧟ry at the moment."

A further decision at 4.55pm was taken to cancel all further track action, resulting in the postponement of races i♔ncluding the opening British Supersport event, w🧸hich had been initially scheduled for a 4.25pm start.
