Cadwell Park: Brookes: Sorry for making it boring...
J🍌osh Brookes has apologised for making the races at Cadwell Park 'boring' after taking a third straight double winner to extend his consecutive victory run to six.
The Milwaukee Yamaha rider completely trounced his British Superbike rivals by taking a clean sweep 🌸of top spots in the free practice sessions꧟, pole position in qualifying and two race wins at the Lincolnshire circuit.
As a result, Brookes extends his lead in the BSB standings having already booked himself a place in the Showdown and has surpassed Shane Byrnไe's Podiums points advantage with the defending champion stalling on 41 while the Australian jumped ahead with 45.
Brookes, who is hunting a maiden BSB crown, made a tongue-in-cheek apology about the battle🐠 at the front after he comfortably pulling away from the chasing pack in both races.
"I'm sorry it was a bit boring but I am sure there will be plen🃏ty of races that come up in the future to be exciting enough..." Brookes said. "I didn't want to let up I had a big gap and it is easy to make mistakes and lose concentration when you are not in a battle.
"When you are in a battle you never lose concentration because you are fighting for every corner. When you are on your own you want to be smooth and calculated andᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚ if you slow up you start to make mistakes."
Brookes also reaffirmed his delight at finding a dominant set-up with the ne💫w Yamaha R1 and will be hoping to maintain his control on the championship to clai✱m a first BSB title after a series of near-misses.
"I'm really pleased with Milwaukee Yamaha even though it go🎶es without saying," he says. "The bike is working so well and﷽ with the combination of the team, the tyres and me everything just works. It is like gears rotating together."
