Team BMW's Colin Turkington is focussed on extending his British Touring Car Championship lead ahead of Tom Ingr𒉰am after out-qualifying his main rival during the final qualifying session of 2018 at Brands Hatch.

With the success ballast once again playing a🉐 pivotal ro💮le for the championship front-runners, Turkington will start two places ahead of Ingram in tomorrow's opening race after posting a time good enough for 17th during this afternoon's 30-minute qualifying shootout.

"I’m really satisfied with 🍰qualifying. The car was the best it’s been all day. We improved quite a bit from FP2. I’m satisfied that we got the set up right and I nailed the lap. That was it," said Turkington.

"Unfortunately the weight does its job very well. That’s the reality 🌺of the situation. In relative terms, when you look where the other guys are wi༒th weight, then we’re right there.

"Even against the other two BMWs from my team, I’m not far away from the pace. I think we did the job today. Yes 🔯17th doesn’t sound great but you’ve got what you’ve got and your expectations need to be realistic."

Turkington wil⛎l carry a 34-point lead over the Toyota Avensis of Ingram into the opening race and has set himself the target of extending his advantage as the Team BMW driver looks to close♒ out a third title in the series.

"I’m going to try and go forward, as I always do. I want to move forward through the pack and score ♌points. That’s aim for me.♋ Try and extend my points lead," Turkington continued.

"The car feels racy an𓃲d I’𝔉m confident with it, which means a lot. I think we’ve got a good race car.

"I’ve got to not think too much ab🌠out him [Ingram] and keep moving forward. I want to score points. That’🎃s what I’m focussed on."
