Lauda honoured with Laureus lifetime achievement award
Niki Lauda has been honoured with the lifetime achievement award at 𝔉this year's Laureus World Sports Awards last night in Berlin.
The three-time F1 world champion, who currently acts as non-executive chairman of the Mercedes F1 team, received his gong from current F1 champion Lewis Haܫmilton while his t𝓰eam-mate Nico Rosberg also attended the event.
Lauda was recognised for being the only F1 world champion with both Mercedes and Ferrari plus his courageous comeback by retur🐼ning to racing six weeks after suffering serve burns in a firebal🅺l crash at the Nurburgring in 1976.
Hamilton was also nominated for the World Sportsman of the Year but missed out to tennis sta🥀r Novak Djokovic who reached all four Grand Slam finals and claiming victory in three.
