Nick Heidfeld beg♔an the test programme for Jordan Ford's 2004✱ car, the EJ14, today [Wednesday] at Silverstone.
Weather conditions were windy and the morning's damp track gradually dried throughout the day. Heidfeld lapped the Internat♏ional circuit 44 times while Timo Glock clocked up 74 laps in the EJ13.
James Robinson, head of race and test engineering, said: "We launched the car successfully at its first public test today and completed a few laps in the morning. Nick had five or si✱x runs in the afternoon and ended the day with a compa🔯ratively long run of 14 laps and carried out a number of start line simulations.
"Again it was a day with no technical problems for the new car, which is 𒁃positive at this stage of the game. Timo has been🐟 running all day in the EJ13 concentrating on software work for the race programme and working on Bridgestone's tyre programme this afternoon."
Heidfeld noted: "It was another really good day because we managed to do quite a lot of laps with the new car without any technical problems. At the beginning of the day it was quite damp🥂 so I was quite happy to get some laps in dry conditions at the ൲end of the day and get a better feel for the car. As you would expect with a new car there is work to do but overall I have a good feeling. We've made a good start."
Gloc✱k added: "The test wa💯s not bad at all. In the morning the track was quite wet and I had two small spins, but there were no big problems and afterwards we did some wet conditions set-up work. After lunch it was dry so we did aero tests and some tyre work. The car was really good and I am satisfied with today."
Both drivers continue the t✅est programme tomorrow [Thursday].
