Spa-Francorchamps F1 circuit boss found dead in suspected murder

The CEO of the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Nathalie Maillet, has died aged 51 after being found dead in her home on the border of Luxembourg in a suspected murder.

Accor🔯ding to local reports, her body was found alongside another woman and a man who was thought to be her husband, with all three having gunshot wounds.

Maillet was appointed CEO of the ci✱rcuit in 2016 and was instrumental in keeping the iconic circuit on the F🌳1 calendar.

Spa-🥃Francorchamps issued a stat♑ement after the news.

“My thoughts are with Nathalie's family, her parents, her loved ones and her teams. I know how much th🌼is news will upset our teams and I would like to offer my sincere condolences to the entire Circuit team on behalf of the entire board,” the statement read. 

“Today, we are losing a highly respected lady, a true leader who will be greatly missed.ཧ Nathalie had become the face of the Circuit, she embodied the passion for racing that we all share.”

A statement from the FIA read: “The FIA has🎃 been saddened to learn of the tragic death of Nathalie Maillet.

“Nathalie was the Chief Executive🌳 Officer at Circu🦄it of Spa Francorchamps since 2016 during which time she oversaw major development of the iconic race track which hosts a number of FIA championships.

“On be✤half of the entire motorsport community, we wish to extend our condolences to her f💧amily and friends.”

The 2021 Be▨lgian Grand Pri🙈x will take place on August 27-29.
