Aston Martin signs Mercedes aero chief to bolster F1 team

The Aston Martin Formula 1 team has continued its impressive recruitment drive by signing Mercedes chief aerodynamicist Eric Blandin.

Blandin became Mercedes’ chief aerodyn♕amcist in 2017, ha🅰ving previously worked for Red Bull and Ferrari.

The accqusiton of Blan🐼din is one of several signings that Aston Ma🐎rtin has made this year in its pursuit of success in F1.

In July, the Silverstone-ba♓sed outfit announced the sign𝓰ing of Dan Fallows from Red Bull as the team’s new technical director.

Fallows wasn’t the onl💎y signing Red Bull with Andrew Alessi joining as head of technical operat💃ions.

Aston Martin🧜 has also added to its senior management team with former McLaren team princ🍎ipal Martin Whitmarsh joining as Group CEO.

The team has also started work on an all new factory which is set𝓡 to be completed by the sta🃏rt of the 2023.

The existing Silverstone factory will be upgraded and expanded as it goes꧃ in search of championship glory in F1.

A spokesperson said: “We can confirm that Eric Blandin will begin working for Aston Martin Cognizant F1 Team next year. His exact start date is not yet confirmed. The transition from ꦦMercedes AMG F1 Team to ourselves will be an amicable o🦄ne.”

Aston Martin has endured a tricky 2021 campaign as it sits seventh in the construct✤ors' championship, behind Alpine and AlphaTauri.
