Colombo takes maiden Formula 3 victory in first Hungary sprint race

After enjoy𒀰ing his best qualifying of the season with 11th, Colombo lined up on the front row alongside Carlin’s Jonny Edgar.
After duelling wi♈th Edgar on the opening lap, Colombo got throu꧙gh on the outside of Turn 1 - coincidentally, Edgar hit trouble and came to a halt, ending his race prematurely.
W🦩ith overtaking so difficult around the tight and twisty Hungaroring, C🍨olombo’s maiden victory was a likely achievement.
Hitech’s Ayumu Iwasa ran behind Colombo having started from third but couldn’t gꦜet close to make an overtake.
Frederik Vesti’s late retirement caused a Safety Car but the Italian𒐪 aced the restart to ensure he secured his first win but also first points of the season.
Iwasa maintained second across the line, scoring his third podium finish of the season✤, while Olli Caldwell joined🐎 them on the podium.
Logan Sargeant finished fourth as the initial gr🌃id order, besides Edgar, remained intact at the front.
Trident’s Clement Novalak finished fifth ahead of points leader Dennis Hauger, who pulled✱ off a couple of excellent overtakes around the outside of Turn 1.
Aleksandr Smoly🎃ar was seventh in the ART Grand Prix, while David Sc🧸humacher got ahead of Trident teammate Jack Doohan with a couple of laps to go.
Matt﷽eo Nannini rounded out the top ten for HWA Racelab.
🎶Roman Stanek and Enzo Fittipaldi completed the top 12 and will share the front row of the grid for this afternoon’s second sprint race.
Artไhur Leclerc narrowly missed out on reverse grid pole having finished less than a tenth of a second behind Fittipaldi across the line.
