DS Virgin’s Alex Lynn says he i🍸s banking on a bold strategy to enhance his chances at this weekend’s Formula E r෴ace in Mexico City.

Lynn’s frustrating start to his first full Formula E Championship campaign is set to𝓡 continue in Mexico, with the Briton facing a 10-place grid penalty after his team was forced to change the gearbox on one of his DS Virgin DSV-03 cars following the last round in Chile.

He was forced ꦦto retire with a gearbox failure while running in sixth place in Santiago, an issue which ended his record of successive points finishes f🐟rom each of the opening three races of the 2017/2018 season.

Teammate Sam Bird suffered a similar gearbox issue in Hong Kong and Marrakesh but his problem was not terminal. Bird, who won the open🉐ing race in Hong Kong, has enjoyed a solid run of points finishes to sit third in the drivers’ sta🐲ndings, while Lynn is a low-key 14th.

“It’s not ideal fro🅺m our side,” Lynn said. “The plan h✨as to be to do something different. We have to be bold with our choices on strategy, and hopefully that will pay off.

“It has been frustrating this season so far, because I’ve been quick 𒁏but the results haven’t gone my waℱy. We just need to start getting our reliability better, and banking the points we deserve.”

But Lynn is confident his fortunes will turn around sooner rather than later and believes his Virgin squad’s ꧒package should be competitive around the tight and twisty Autodromo Hermanos Rodriquez circuit.

“We should be quick there. Last year [Jose Maria] Lopez was in the lead with a few laps to go, and my team-mate Sam Bird finished third. So the pace is there, and we should have a good chance of being competitive. Now it’s time to start putting som𝐆e serious points on the board.”
