Anthony Reid took a weekend out from the British Touring Car Championshiඣp to join the MG Mayflower Trophy championship runners when the series visited Scotland's Knockhill circuit this Sunday, to rather a good result for the Scot.

Racing an MꩲG ZR saloon in n✨ear-production specification, Anthony won both of the afternoon's races in the hotly contested championship.

Afterwards, he pronounced him🌱self delighted with the weekend, which not only gave him the chance to race in his nativeಌ Scotland for the first time this year, but also to represent MG north of the border. The competitive series features drivers racing a variety of MG cars, and impressed Anthony with the standard of racing and performance of the MG ZR.

"Qualifying this morning was in a typical Scotch mist!" said Anthony. "꧂I went out with slicks on the MG ZR, but the track started to get wetter and wetter, and I lost out on pole by a few tenths to a car on wet weather tyres. The session was only 15-minutes long so there wౠas no chance to come and change tyres.

"The first race was tricky as the tr🍌ack was still damp and I went for slicks again. I got a bit swamped at the first corner, and was then punted down to tenth place - it was just like being back in the BTCC!

"It was only a 15-lap race, but I was able to get back intoไ the lead with two laps to go and took an enjoyable victory. My BTCC team-mate Colin Turkington was second in an MG TF - so a ༒good race for the guests!

"I was second on the grid for the second race, which was on a dr🅰y track. The rear-wheel drive MG TFs made good starts and I slipped down to third, but gained a place and then had a good battle with series regular Barry Benham. The ZR was a little more suited to Knockhill than the TFs and we pulled away, then I was able to get past and won by a bit of a margin in the end. Another very enjoyable race.
