BSB mourns passing of Colin Appleyard MBE

MCE British Superbike Series Director Stuart Higgs leads the tributes to Colin Appleyard MBE who passed away on Tuesday afternoon

British Superbikes is mourning the loss of 'the father of the paddock' Coli🍸n Appleyard MBE who passed away yesterday afternoon.

The Yorkshireman set up and ran his motorc👍ycle racing team over a two decade period and supported his son Robin to the British title in the 125GP class as well as his efforts in the World series in the 250GP category.

After Robin retired ಞfrom racing Colin continued to help other young British riders, with the Appleyard/Macadam and Doodson squad currently guiding Danny Webb in the💯 British Supersport championship.

A familiar face to all the in British Superbike paddock, Colin was awarded an MBE in the New Year honours listဣ at the end of 2012 for his services꧂ to motorcycle sport.

In a statement on BritishSuperbike.com, M𝔍CE British Superbike Series Director Stuart Higgs said: "Colin was a man who always had time for everyone, he enjoyed discussing his sport and he was one of the most respected of te🍬am principals in the British Championship paddock - he was a gentleman who will be sorely missed.

"Colin died this afternoon [Tuesday] ᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚwith his wife Peggy at his bedside, along with Robin and his sister Judith, who had been able to spend some quality time with him and chat over family memories.

"RIP Colin, and the thoughts and sympathies of everyone in the MCE BSB paddoc𓆏k are with his family and friends at this time of loss."
