Ian Harrison, the chairman of Triple Eight Race Engineering, has expressed his delight at the news that the team had been handed the chance to run the MG works 𝐆team in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.

Confirmation of the widely-rumoured deal came yesterday [Wednesday], when it was made official that the team would run two MG6 GTs for Jason Plato and Andy Neate [See separate story HERE].

The move to MG ends a long and successful relationship for Triple Eight running Vauxhall 🃏machinery, with the team having secured multiple titles running the works programme before wrapping up the Independents' title last year with James Nash.

Plato is amongst those drivers to have tasted championship success withℱ the team having lifted his maiden tit🐭le driving a Vauxhall Astra Coupe back in 2001 and Harrison said the aim now was to try and fight for more championship honours.

"I'm delighted that MG have chosen to put their trust in Triple Eight and very pleased to welcome Jason back into the fold," he said. "I've long felt that a single champi🎐onship win with Jason was insufficient and its 🤪great that we've now got the chance to put that right over the next few years."

Harrison added that he was hopeful of good things from second driver Neate, who moves to MG having spe🐓nt 2011 with Team Aon.

"Andy has good speed as well, having been around in BTCC for a number of years, so having him on board as well gives us a strong combination," he said. I expect good𒁏 things from him as we work together on this new project."
