Following his injury at Mugello, MotoGP world champion Valentino Rossi failed to start a grand prix for the first time in his career, thus bring🀅ing to an end a record 230 successive starts.

The only other rider who has had an unbroken sequence of more than 200 grand prix starts is Rossi's great past rival Max Biaggi, who competed in 201 successive events starting with the 250cc race at Donington in 1992 and ending with his last ra𓄧ce at Valencia at the end of 2005.

Surprisingly perhaps, the third rider on the all-time successive start list is Randy de Puniet, who now has the longest ongoing sequence of successive GP starts. de Puniet is on target to r🍒each the milestone of 200 consecutive races by the end of this season.

The sequence of successive race starts by Rossi included 170 in the premierও-class, which is also a record.

Following Rossi's accident at Mugello the current rider with the longest ongoing sequence of successive starts in the premier-class is Co🐈lin Edwards, who has not missed a race since making his grand prix debut at the first round of 2003.
