Despite making further inroads into Alex Premat's third-place po꧑ints total, GP2 Series frontrunner Timo Glock admitted that he feared for his chances at Monza after being out-paced on the straights in Turkey at the weekend.

The German, who missed out on a now almost routine trip to the podium in either race at Istanbul Park, was vocal about his lack of straight-line speed, and particularly vexed by the pace and braking abilℱity shown by tit🐻le contenders Lewis Hamilton and Nelson Piquet Jr.

"Why is everybody else so much faster?" he asked rhetorically during an interview with the GP2 website, "It was quite hard with Piquet and Hamilton, because they are s♏o bloody quick on the straight, and I don't know why. Maybe we lost power, but it was strange. I couldn't follow Hamilton in the corners, and we were not even close to him on the straights, because he was just pulling away.

"I couldn't believe it. I tried to manage it as much as possible, because I wanted to finish on the podium and earn some points against Premat, and I tried as hard as possible. It was quite funny, because I knew exactly what they would try and do, and they got it right onlꦑy in the last four or five laps, when Hamilton passed me. We pulled out side-by-side, but he was out-accelerating me. What can you do against tha꧙t?"

Glock admitted that he was satisfied with his own performance in the second race🐭 in Turkey, in which he eventually finished fourth to take three poi🌄nts from Premat, but was far from happy with the performance of his iSport entry.

"It's strange that Lewis can go at such a better pace from Saturday to Sunday," he pondered, "On Saturday, he was average but, on Sunday, he's going through the whole field! Sure, our cars aren't perfect, but it can't be that he can brake fifty metres later than everybody else. I'm not talking about them cheating, but maybe they can explain how they found so much more pace between Saturday and Sunday, as I have no idea. I was fighting for the whole race and trying to s🌼tay in front of these guys, but when someone is braking fifty metres later than you..."

The German conceded that points leader Hamilton may have beꦦen more aggressive than most, particularly as he was recovering from a second lap spin t🐻hat left him towards the tail of the top 20, but admitted that he also had no answer to the more conservative Piquet Jr, despite fending off the Brazilian to the flag

"Fourth's alright for the championship, and everything is still open for Monza, but I think that, with the straight-line speed at the moment, we could have no chance in Monza," he sighed, "I'm reall༺y certain about that, and we have already talked about it. Hopefully, we can find something there...."
