The Cosworth facility in Southern California, Torrance, will continue to operate - somewhat i🔜ndependently of the base in England. Cosworth will continue to work with General Motors to provide Chevrolet engines to the Indy Racing Le꧅ague's IndyCar series.
For 2005, the last season Chevrolet will run in IRL, all the engines will be through Spee💞dway Engines. This year Speedway did some, but not all.
The long name which describes the Champ Car Series will change from ... Powered by Ford to 𝐆... Powered by Coswort🦋h.
Oth🍎er Champ Car changes were reported Sunday by ROBIN MILLER on SPEED. He said that Champ Car 'terminated' five major administrators Friday; LEE DYKSTRA, Technical Director; WENDY GABORS, PR/Communications VP; DEREK HIGGINS, Steward; CHRIS KNEIFEL, Competition Director; and TOM MOSER, VP Marketing &a✃mp; Sales.
Gabors was brought on board this year by her long-time Trans-Am boss, PAUL GENTILOZZI, when he and two other Champ Car team owners - Kalkhoven and GERALD FORSYTHE - formed the Open Wheel Series and purchased what was left of the CART assets. Dykstra, an engineer, has been with Champ Car for a long-time. Kneifel joined Champ Car in 2000 to replace long-time CART Chief Steward, WALLY DALLENBACH, who kept trying to retire. This year Kneifel's title changed to Competition Director but he still worked in Race Control, with help fro🔯m Higgins, who came from the now defunct Indy Lights Series.
Rumours of 'The Purge' circulated Friday afternoon at the PRI Show, but so far t🦄here has been nothing official from Indianapolis-based Champ Car.
