His Serene Highness Prince Rainier of Monte Carlo has beenꦿ awarded the first ever FIA𝔉 Gold Medal for Motor Sport, as the governing body recognised his involvement in staging the most famous grand prix and rally of all.

Monaco has played a significant part in motorsport history and, with both the annual Formula One event an💎d Monty Carlo Rallye being based there, has hosted more FIA world championship events than any other country. Being a public location, rather than a venue secreted away in the countryside, the🌊 Principality has had to display a unique level of commitment to both events.

According to the FIA, neither event would be feasib💛le without the long-standing support, enthusiasm and leadership of Prince Rainier and his family, and it is this unique and exceptional contr🧔ibution that has been recognised by the award of the first ever Gold Medal.

Inaugurated🎃 to celebrate the organisation's centenary, the award was made by the FIA Academy from nominations made by FIA member clubs𒀰.
