'93 champ Schwantz to race Supermoto.

1993 500cc World Champion Kevin Schwantz has announced he that he will make his return꧋ to national competition in the newly formed AMA Red Bull Supermoto championship, on a self-prepared Suzuki DRZ400.

"I think Super🐟moto's 🐷an exciting type of racing," stated Schwantz, "Its mix of dirt and pavement with the possibility of a jump draws from three different types of competition [roadracing, flat track and Motocross].

"It should be an interest🐈ing new championship and I am excited to be involved with it. It's been eight years since I have competed in a full series championship, and this time I am doing it just for fun!" added the Texan.

The 2⛦003 Supermoto schedule kicks off at the World/AMA Superbike round at La🐲guna Seca and wraps up with a winner-takes-all championship finale at Las Vegas.

Schwantz became a household name after his thrilling battles with countryman - and three times world champion - Wayne Rainey on𓆏 the 500cc GP sc🔥ene in the early 1990s.

Schwant🍰z finally won the world title the year Rainey was paralysed, but - sho𒐪cked by his rivals injury - retired from GPs soon after.
