Banned for two races and sacked from both his current and f𝕴uture teams, Romano Fenati has now been summoned to appear before the FIM.

'Following the incident in the Misano round of the FIM Moto2 Grand Prix World Championship on Sunday 9 September involving Moto2 rider Romano Fenati, the FIM President has summoned the Italian rider to the FIM Headquarters in Mies (Switzerland) to explain his conduct,=', read an FIM statement.

'In view of the egregious and shocking nature of Mr Fenati’s act, the FIM took the time needed to reflect serenely on the incident, which has prompted strong emotions throughout the world of motorcycling and beyond.

'The FIM has decided to summon the Rider to FIM HQ (Switzerland) in order to discuss the situation with him before taking any action the FIM may consider appropriate.''

Fenati c🤪aused uproar when he reached across and grabbed rival Stefano Manzi's front brake during Sunday's Misano Moto2 race.

The pair had clashed prior to the incident, Manzi later receiving a grid penalty for the next ro🃏und, but by tamꦚpering with a competitor's bike at such high-speed Fenati shocked even the hardest of racers.

Fenati, who has suggested he may now quit racing, was previously punished for reaching over and switching off Niklas Ajo's engine (after kicking out at the Finn) as he prepared to make a pra🍌ctice start f꧟ollowing Moto3 warm-up in Argentina 2016.

The Italian lost his seat at VR46 when he was sacked 💃midway through that season, but relaunched his career last year with three wins and title runner-up for Snipers.

The 22-year-old stepped up to Moto2 with the squad this year, taking a best race finish of seventh so far. He had been due to join MV Agusta in 2019, during the Italian factory's return to grand prix via🐭 a partnership with Forward R🉐acing.
