Jorge Viegas elected as FIM President

 

Jorge Viegas has been elected as FIM President to&nb♛sp;take&nbsಌp;over from Vito Ippolito following the latest FIM Annual General Assembly in Andorra.

Viegas will step up from his former FIM Vice President role to replace the outgoing Ippolito with the Portuguese a fo🔯rmer 250cc Grand Prix rider calling the role “a lifelong achievement”.

Jorge Viegas has been elected as FIM President to take over from Vito Ippolito following the latest FIM Annual General Assembly 🍨in Andorra.

Viegas will step up from his former FIM Vice Presi𝓰dent role to replace the outgoing Ippolito with the Portuguese a former 250cc Grand Prix rider calling the role “a lifelong achievement”.

After his racing career ended Viegas worked as a journalist before helping found the Portuguese Foundation in 1990 an♑d also went on to become President of Estoril Circuit.

Viegas has already served a number of roles within the FIM, starting as a Member and President of the FIM Promotion Commission in 1992 before bein꧟g appointed FIM Vice President bღetween 1996 and 2014.

“I am truly honoured to be elected to the position of FIM President,” Viegas said. “It🎃 is a lifelong achievement for me to see my passion for mot💯orcycling develop into a role that can allow me to make a positive impact on the sport.

“I have spent many yeaꦰrs working for and wit💧h the FIM and I am looking forward to a bright future together.

“We took very important and courageous decisions in our first Board of Directors. We are going in the right direction, putting the National Federations, the Continental Unions and the Commissi𒁏ons in the centre of the decisions.”

Viegas will also become t🤪he acting CEO of the FIM Commissions Conference from February 2019.
