After the five-time world chamꦫpion was reported in hospiꩲtal in Verona, Repsol Honda has officially confirmed Lorenzo has sustained a fracture to his left scaphoid in a traiꦫning accident.
Following hospital checks in Verona the ⛎team confirmed Lorenzo will require surgery once additional medical checks are finished on Monday (January 21). Repsol Honda will release further informatio꧅n on his injury after the operation is completed.
Lorenzo is set to take part in the Repsol Honda team launch in Madrid on Wednesday (January 23), where he will be officially unveiled by the team following𝄹 his switch from Ducati this winter, along with reigning MotoGP world🍌 champion Marquez who is still completing rehabilitation following shoulder surgery in December.
Last October Lorenzo suffered a left wrist fracture which required minor surgery after his high-side crash during practice at the Thailand MotoGP round, ruling him out of four races, but he did return to action for his last Ducati appearance at the Valencia season f🦂inale.
It remains unclear whether the ꩲnew scaphoid injury was caused by a lasting issue from his fracture suffering in October.
Despite pain from his wrist injury, Lorenzo also completed both two-day post-season tests on his ꦛRepsol Honda debut at Valencia and Jerez in November.
Lorenzo is due to start MotoGP pre-season testing in Malaysia with Honda on February 6-8. Marquez൩ is already expected not to be 100% fit in time for the Sepan🦩g test as he continues his recovery from shoulder surgery.
