MotoGP will run a specific Michelin tyre test on Friday pr🌌actice at the Australian round.

As part of Michelin’s 2020 tyre development p꧃lans, all MotoGP riders will ret♋urn to action for a special practice session which will not contribute towards the race weekend at Phillip Island.

The extra session will last 20 minutes, penned in for 15:55 to 16:15 local time on the Friday of the Australian MotoGP schedule, and all riders will be given a new specification slick rear tyre with the new construﷺction already tested at Barcelona, Brno and Misano earlier this season during the in-season tests.

The special Phillip Island test will see Michelin trial a new asymmetrꦓic design with a harder left-hand side. All riders will be able to pick one rear tyre 𝔉in either a Soft or Medium compound and will be required to complete a minimum of 11 laps during the 20-minute session.

Riders wi💧ll also be given an extra fr♛ont tyre of their preferred specification from Soft, Medium or Hard options from the French tyre manufacturer’s current tyre range.

Following the 20-minute evaluation session, a decision wi𝓰ll be taken on whether the rear tyre will be added to next yearꦇ’s race weekend allocation.

The special session will only be conducted in dry conditions and Race Direction will b𓂃e able to modify the running sche🔯dule accordingly.

Phillip Island has been selected given the track’s unique challenge to tyre manufacturers as it is the toughest anti-clockwise circuit on tyre consumption in the MotoGP calendar, meaning the left-hand side of tyres get more use than at any oth෴er circuit.
