German Moto2: Gardner: I saw I was quicker and calmly began to push

Remy Gardner was nothing short of sensation♍al during round eight of the 2021 Moto2 season as he dominated the German GP from start to finish.
Gardneওr made his way past rookie team-mate and pole sitter Raul Fernandez at the beginning of lap two, before eventually winning by🌸 over six seconds from Aron Canet.
Gardner pushed on the pace immediately after passing the 🔯Spaniard who was the only rider capable of following the Australian, however, the pace was so high from Gardne🍌r that Fernandez crashed out at turn three on lap five.
Gardner’s victory now me🔯ans a 36 point gap has been opened up between him and Fernan🃏dez.
What turned out to be a history-making day for Gardner started out with an inspirational message from his brother pre-race: "Before the race๊, my brother sent me a message telling me to become the first Australia𒈔n to win three consecutive races.
"It was a great contest. Honestly, I was prepared for a battle, as Raul [Fernandez] had been very strong the🍰 entire weekend. Especially in the warm-up, he had a better pace than me.
"However, on the first three laps I saw that I was quicker, and I calmly began to pus🌜h. I needed to keep focused and it was a very long round.
"I’m ☂happy with the 25 points. It was an important day for us. Now we have to remain calm and keep going."
The mistake from Fernandez is his💎 only real error so far in what’s been a stunning debut Moto2 campaign.
"It’s a real shame. We had a strong pace and after the warm-up I felt very well prepared for the race,"&nbღsp;added Fernandez.
"All that we can do is start afresh. I want to thank🅠 my team, because we were having a great weekend and we just couldn’t round it off due to the crash.
"Luckily, next week we have another opp🧸ortunity at Assen, and we will give one hundred percent to try to get🐻 a good result."
