HAVE YOUR SAY: WEC introduces grid girl 'ban'

The World Endurance Championship has 𝔉announced it will not feature the use of 'grid girls' in 2015 after it was deemed to not be reflective of the sport in this era.

A well-established feature of motor racing over the decades, grid girls remain a staple at the highest level of the sport, including F1, but d♏uring the season launch for the 2015 World Endurance Championship, it was confirmed they would be dropped from the series for this season, with chief executive Gerard Neveu saying 'for me that is the past, the condition of women is a little bit different now'.

Organisers have since released a statement on Twitteremphasising its desire t༒o promote 'beautiful women' involved in the sport behind-the-scenes♒ instead.

"WEC garages, paddocks, grandstands, hospitality and media roo𝔉ms full of beautiful women, always much appreciated by everyone not just before the start.

"We have many more beautiful wo♉men who work 💛with the WEC than just those holding number panels.

"🦄On the grid we believe cars are the beauties & Le Mans-style starts echo Spirit of Le Mans ethos communicated in all we do."
