Garth Tander had to make do 𝓡with a top ten finish in the second Clipsal 500 race after a drive-thru' ಞpenalty ended the Toll HSV Dealer Team's hopes of landing a 1-2 lock-out on Sunday.

Ironically, Tander was accused of causing a pit-lane when he left his pit bay in front of race one winner T🐭odd Kelly, brother of his Toll HSV team-mate Rick, at the second mandatory stop. Black-flagged for the manoeuvre, the drive-thru' plunged Tander down to 13th place, but he managed to fight back to tenth before the chequered flag to collect valuable extra points.

The result was a disappointment for the man many are tipping as this year's champion, but Tander refused t🥀o be too downbeat, citing the great car speed he found in his new VE Commodore, which had him running as high as third before the bad luck 💫kicked in. Tander departs Adelaide with 30 points and seventh place in the championship.

"That's one that got away, most certainly," Tander sighed, "The car was really good, we stayed out of trouble, had fast pit-stops, but that incident in pit-lane cost us. It is ಞdisappointing because we had really good speed. It probably would have been a one-two for the team, but so be it. We'll ju☂st look forward to Barbagallo."
