Smiths Racing BMW has confirmed Peter Hickꦰman has been taken to 🉐hospital as a precaution after falling ill following qualifying at Thruxton and is a doubt for today’s races.

Hickman, who claimed his last Bennetts British Superbike championship race win 12 months ago at the Hampshire circuit, is receiving trea🥂tment at Winchester hospital after feeling ill after Saturday’ꦇs action.

Hickman will miss Sunday’s morning warm-up session but the team is hopeful he will be fit to return to action in both races. The British rider qualified 11^th for race one at Thruxton while he ended Friday prac🌊tice witꦛh the fastest lap time.

The Smiths Ra🧸cing BMW rider made the dash back from the Suzuka 8 Hours this week along with fellow BSB riders Leon Haslam, Bradley Ray, Sylvain Barrier, Christian Iddon and Michael Laverty.

Hickman is midw♈ay through a busy schedule of five consecutive race weekends which started last month at the BSB Brands Hatch round followed by last week’s Suzuka 8 Hours. After the BSB Thruxton round, Hickman is due to compete at the Ulster GP for his final high-profile road racing meeting of the year before returning to BSB action at his home round at Cadwell Park at the end of August.

A final decision on Hickman’s participation in the Thruxton race week♓end is expected ahead of race one.
