Spanish GP F1: Qualifying will be crucial, says Vettel

Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel says a good qualifying performance will be vital in Spain if he is to get on the podium.

Sebastian Vettel believes it will be 'crucial' to qualify as well a💜s possible this weekend for the 2014 F1 Spanish Grand Prix.

Overtaking can traditionally be difficult at Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya and that means grid position will be all-important if he is to stand any chance of getting on the podium again, something he has on🍬ly managed once so far this year.

"Formula One returns to Europe with the Spanish GP. A nice side aspect of that is that we are back in the Energy Station, which provides a lot of space for us and the team - it will become a little bit like home over the next few weeks! The Circuit de Catalunya [itself] is varied with 180 degree bends, fast, sweeping corners and elevation changes. There isn't much opportunity to o🎐vertake, so getting a good start position in qualifying will be crucial," confirmed the four-time F1 world champion.

"The track is [also] very challenging on the tyres because of the very fast corners, so lots of pit stops are likely in the ra𓃲ce," added Vettel, who has only finished on the podium in 𝐆Barcelona twice, once in 2011, when he won the event, and once in 2010, when he was third.

"The long, fast curves of Montmelo mean that it will suit a car with highly efficient aerജܫodynamics," the German summed-up.
