Christian Horner: One practice session enough for F1 weekends

Red Bull team boss Christian Horner believes Formula 1 could switch to having just one practice session on each race weekend if plans to expand the sp⛦ort's calendar are pushed through.

Last weekend's Azerbaijan Grand Prix saw⛄ teams lose almost the entirety of running in opening practice after a manhole cover came lose on the circuit, forcing the session to be abandoned.

Recurring red flags thro🦹ugh FP2 meant there was only one clean and complete sessio♉n in which to prepare for qualifying in Baku, creating more potential for a shake-up in the pecking order.

The race weekend's format is known to be under review by F1 officials as it looks at expanding the🔴 calendar to as many as 25 races in the coming years, witꦆh some suggestions of condensing the race weekend from three to two days.

Horner felt the Azerbaijan weekend ac🍰ted as🍨 proof that teams can manage with just one practice session.

"I think that depends on how many races we end up with. If we end up with more races, then arguably ♑we do need to condense the time," Horner said.

"We saw one session worked well enough on Friday here. Maybe🦹 one good session is the way to go. Then parts and people could turn up a little bit later.

"One session is enough for the weekend."
