Mercede꧒s-backed youngster George Russell will step up to Formula 🅷2 for the 2018 season with ART Grand Prix, partnering Jack Aitken.

Russell, 19, swept to the GP3 title in 2017 with ART, clinching the crown with two races to spare before enjoying his maiden Formula 1 p꧒ractice appearance in Brazil with Force India.

The Briton tested with A💙RT in the post-season F2 test in Abu Dhabi, and has now been confirmed by the team as being part of its line-up for the 2018 seasoꦕn which starts in Bahrain on April 7.

"I am very happy to be able to race in Formula 2 while continuing to drive for A🅺RT Grand Prix. We had a very successful year together last season and so it makes sense to continue working together and seek out new successes," Russell said.

"With the introduction of a new Formula 2 car, it will be challenging for all the teams to optimize the set-up from the start of the season, but I have every confidence in ART Grand Prix to get there and to b♏e competitive as quickly as possible.

"I cannot wait to take part in the first race and fightꦍ against some of the best drivers and teams at the pinnacle of junior motorsport."
