Byrne: I could have won second race.
Shane Byrne admits he was surprised by the Airwaves Ducati's relative lack of pace in the latest Bennetts British Superbike round at Cadwell Park, even if he maintains that he would ha💜ve won the second race had it not been ♏shortened.
Byrne came to the Lincolnshire c🐎ircuit expecting his 1098 to be suited well to its crests and troughs, just as Ducatis have been in the past, but while he was never outside the top five d꧒uring free practice and qualifying, he didn't top a single session over the weekend.

Nonetheless, a pair of third places still kept the points ticking over for Byrne, while he insists that his late charge in the second race would have seen him win had it not been shortened by three laps due to a delay in 🉐the schedule.
"I really like Cadwell Park and I thought it would be a good circuit for us on the Airwaves Ducati but it's actually been a tough weekend. We've had to work so much har🌸der and make a lot of changes from session to session but all creꦚdit to the Airwaves Ducati team for helping me get two podiums today.
"I really want to get𓃲 back🅺 on that top step and I think that had the second race been the original 18 laps I could have won. Nevertheless I'm looking forward to Croft and hopefully taking the momentum and the pace from race two with us."
Maintaining a 110💯 point lead over Tom Sykes now, Byrne heads to Croft with a chance to wrap up the 2008 title early. He needs to maintain a 101 point buffer between himself and the chasing masses in order to confirm himself as BSB Champion for this year.
