F1 bosses hold talks regarding London city centre showcase
꧒Formula 1 bosses have held talks with Westminster City Council reꦐgarding a possible demonstration through the streets of London this summer that would incorporate many of the city's major landmarks.
F1 last held an event through the streets of London in 20ꩲ04 when a nu൲mber of cars and drivers completed a run from Regent Street to Piccadilly Circus.
A recent change in UK law to permit streets being used for motorsport competition revived hope that a grand prix could one day bꦆe held in the centre of London, and while this remains some way off, another show run is under consideration.
"Officeඣrs from the Greater London Authority and Westminster City Council have met with event organisers about a potential showcase event in central London, not a race," a statement from Westminst🌌er City Council reads.
"Di෴scussions are at a very early stage and as such nothing has been agreed."
Multiple reports have suggested that the show-run could go ahead as early as this summer, taཧking place in the🎃 lead-up to the British Grand Prix on July 16.
Since completing its takeover of F1 in January, Liberty Media has been pushing to hold more events in cities, and is thought to be pursuing a night race in New York Cꦛity as a headline projeꦅct for the sport.
