Cadwell Park: Byrne beams after breaking Cadwell Park duck

Shane Byrne says he's pleased to halt an unwanted winless run by claiming a first victory at Cadwell Park since 2013.

Shane Byrne says he's pleased to halt an unwanted winless run by claiming a first victory at Cadwell Parꦏk since 2013 and in the process book his place in the Showdown while co𒆙ntinuing to add to his podium points tally.

The Be Wiser Ducati rider produced a dramatic last-lap pass on title rival Leon Haslam in race one to take a first win at the track in 13 years and Ducat𓆏i's first victory at the track since 2007. Despite being hampered by tyre issues in race two the four-time BSB champion claimed third place to boost his podium points to 43 - 12 ahead of Haslam with one round remaining.

"I'm really pleased we got the feeling, there were a few issues over the weekend we were not sure about, bu🃏t in race one it was very, very good and I'm chuffed to bits for the team," B🎃yrne said. "When the circuit that you feel might be your Achilles heel, I had been worried about Cadwell Park because of the luck I have had here and the Ducati's haven't got to on too well here. I had not won a race here in 13 years so to get that result I am very, very happy."

Loܫoking to repeat the feat in race two Byrne was somewhat hampered by a tyre issue despite not changing any settings on the Panigale R which denied him the opportunity to fight back from third place in the closing stages.

"I'm quite surprised by rac🔥e two because we ran it completely the same from race one but the bike moved around a lot and I was a lot more sideways," he said. "The four-cylinder bikes were gettinꩲg the power down initially and getting a gap so I would work the lap to get back up and then get to the start/finish straight and it would happen again.

"I'm not making excuses though those two rode fant♒astic and Jason had everything covered this time and Leon was away at the front. For me at Cadwell Park, I had not won a race for 13 years so to win one and back it up with a podium is a big improvement and overall I'm happy. In the Showdown and on to Oulton Park to aim for more wins."
