Promising Manx rider Billy R🦹edmayne has died from injuries sustained in a🐻n accident at the Scarborough Spring Cup meeting on Sunday.

The 25-year-old was airlifted to Middlesbrough Hospital after sustaining critical head in꧋juries in the feature race, when it is understood he was struck from behind on the fastest part of the 2.43-mile circuit at Oliver's Mount.

Redmayne, from Laxey, was a full-time member of the parachut💎e regiment. He was transported by an Army helicopter to the James Cook University H🍌ospital and placed on a ventilator.

The sad news was confirmed on Tuesday morning on Facebooꦺk by his girlfriend of two years, Hannah Wright.

Paying tribute to Billy, she said: 'We were 🤪told that the damage to his brain was too severe for him to ever wake up again. Even if we had waited for the swelling to go down, the damage was too bad.

'He also wasn't able to breathe for himself and was kept awake by machines. Myself and his family dec꧃ided rather than prolong the inevitable, we would turn off his life support machine and donate whatever organs we could.

'I am holding on to the fact that Billy died doing whaౠt he loved, and that was the way he always wanted it.'

Billy won the Newcomers Manx Grand Prix in 2014 and last year took victory in the Junior race to pave the way for his full Isle of Man TT debut 💫this year.
