DTM: DTM increases DRS use, limits tyres for 2015

The DTM makes yet more changes to its sporting regulations just five-weeks prior to the new season.
DTM enhances DRS race use

The DTM will increase tꩵhe driver's use of the ⭕DRS during the race as the series pushes for more overtaking in 2015.

Drivers will now be able to use the DRS system three-times a lap in 2015 but they must be within one-second of the car in front during the dete𝔉ction zone to engage the overtaking aid.

Last year the drivers only had to be wওithin two-seconds of each other to engage the system but could only receive the use of the overtaking device on one occasion per-lap.

The DRS should prove to be more effective during this season as tweaks to the wing-angle means the drivers will deploy 18 degrees of drag reduction as opposed to the previous 16 degrees - creating th꧑e potential for higher top speeds.

In addition to the overtaking innovation, the teams will hav🅷e to tackle the revamped qualifying and race double header with a reduced supply of tyresꦚ for 2015.

Instead of receiving five s🔯ets of tyres - which in 2014 included the use of the hard and soft compound - each car will be supplied with four sets of the new Hankook control rubber. The DTM outlawed the 🍌soft option at the end of last season.

"Providing the spectators enthralling motor racing and top-class entertainment rꦅepresents our top priority," said DTM boss Hans Werner Aufrecht.

"To do so, spectacular overtaking manoeuvres on🦄 the track and thrilling races up to the final lap are a must - and that's exactly what DTM has been providing for many years. This is the reas💫on why it's one of the most attractive race series of the world."
