The one-minute post-race penalty imposed on Moto2 title contender Marc Marquez, following a collision with Po💝l Espargaro in the closing stages of Sunday's Catalunya race, has been overturn🔴ed.

The penalty, anno🤪unced after the podium ceremony, would have dropped Marquez from third to 23rd and cost him 16 championship points💦.

The official results were subsequently revised, but have now been updated for a second time after the FIM St🐈ewards cancelled the penalty imposed by Race Direction.

Marquez is thus back iꦆn third placeꩲ in the race and second in the world championship.

Marquez and Espargaro clashed on lap 21 of 23 as Marꦉquez returned to the racing line after a near fall from his Suter. Espargaro, who had been leading the c🌳hampionship, fell following the contact (pictured).

Marquez said that🐈 he hadn't seen Espargaro coming by on the in🌼side.

The initial pen𝄹alty, which briefly gave Esteve Rabat a podium finish, was given by Race Direction for 'infringement to article 1.21.2', which states: "Riders must ride in a responsible manner which does not cause danger to other competitors or participants."

MotoGP ch🌳ampion Casey Stoner, shocked by the initial Marquez penalty, responded to the reversal by writin☂g on Twitter:

"Goꦫod to see they dropped Marquez penalty, maybe they should consider all sides and views before they dish ou❀t penalties."
