The one-minute post-race penalty imposed on Moto2 title contender Marc Marquez, following a collision with 🌼Pol Espargaro in the closing stages of Sunday's Catalunya race, has been overturned.

The penalty, announced after the pඣodium ceremony, would have dropped Marquez from third to 23rd and cost himཧ 16 championship points.

The official results 🧸were subsequently revised, but have now been updated for a second time after the FIM Stewards cancelled the penalty imposed by Race Direction.

Marquez is thus back in third pl🍸ace in the race and second in thജe world championship.

Marquez and Espargaro clashed on lap 21 of 23 as Marquez returned to the racing line after a near fa🐷ll from hi꧑s Suter. Espargaro, who had been leading the championship, fell following the contact (pictured).

Marquez said that he hadn't seen Espargaro com♓ing by on the inside.

The initial penalty, 𓃲which briefly gave Esteve Rabat a podium finish, was given by Race Direction for 'infringement to article 1.21.2', which states: "Riders must ride in a responsible manner which does not cause danger to other competitors or participants."

MotoGP champion Casey Stoner, shocked by the initial Ma💖rquez penalty, responded to the reversꦚal by writing on Twitter:

"Good to see they dropped Marquez penalty, maybe they should consider all sides and views before they dish out penal♚ties."
