British Formula Three newcomer Katherine Legge had a dramatic airborne moment at the Rocꦐkingham M🐼otor Speedway today in the second race of the day.
💟Legge, who came to the series at Oulton Park joining Team SYR and driving a Dallara-Opel, previously raced in the Formula Renault series and is the ♛only female driver in the British F3 championship.
At✨ Oulton she came home in ninteenth in the first race whilst she was unfortunate to retire from the second racඣe of the day. At Rockingham things were improving, the first race saw here come home in sixteenth whilst she was looking solid in the second race until her incident.
Coming through the chicane, Legge, like so many other contenders, t💙ook a wider line by making use of the grass. Th✅e risk of the agricultural approach is that it's far bumpier than tarmac and this pitched her Dallara up into the air. The airflow caught the underneath of the chassis and the car was thrust upward coming down into a roll ending up with the car being on its roll hoop.
Despite all t♒his Katherine was able to walk away from the incident, a testament to the strength of th▨e Dallara F3 chassis.
Clearing the car from the track brought out💟 the safety car, though racing was to resume with Jamie Green taking victory. Katherine Legge is thought to have been unhurt in the incident.
