Austrian Moto2: Fernandez wins fourth race, Gardner P7 after near turn one crash

Raul Fernandez put in a faultless rid✅e to claim victory at the Auไstrian Moto2, while Remy Gardner lost all opportunity of the podium due to being pushed wide at turn one.
With his MotoGP future sorted for 2022, Fernandez got back down to business after a tough Styr🦂ian GP by leading all but three laps during Sunday’s race.
Fernan𝓀dez came under intense pressure from Ai Ogura just past mid-race distance, however, the Red Bull KTM Ajo rider showed his class to even🍬tually pull clear with two laps remaining.
"I am very happy, since in addition to the victory we have picked up some important points for the championship,” said Fernandez.&nbཧsp;𝓰
"There are still many races to go and we have to keep pushing as we did so far. Last weekend was tough for us, but this time around the tea💛m gave me the best possible bike to be able to fiꦕght for this great result.
"I 🐈was feeling mentally strong today. I want to thank m༺y entire team and my family. I dedicate this win to Hugo [Millan], and to his entire family and loved ones."
Team-mate ♎and championship leader Gardner had similar pace throughout the race to Fernandez, but was unable to use it after being caught up in a turn one incident.
Through no fault of his own the Australian was forced wide which pushed him down to 💛11th p🔴lace.
Gardner put in a solid recovery ride to finish seventh and limit what could havꦗe been a much bigger points🍎 swing to Fernandez.
"It was a tough day for us. We didn't get a good start, and when I reached the first corner I had to pick the bike up to avoid crashing and colliding with other riders,"&ꩵnbsp;added Gardner.
"That made me lo🏅se a lot of positions and, with the high temperatures that we had tಌoday, it was very difficult to regain them.
"I did everything I could, and we have salvaged a few points, but now we are already t♎hinking about th☂e next race."
