Keisuke Kun🐻imoto admits he is as surprised as anyone to be joining the prestigious winners' list of the Macau Grand Prix Formula 3 street race after taking on and beating all of the pre-race favourites.

A little known entity heading into the weekend, Kunimoto's pedigree is a runner-up spot in this year's Japanese Formula 3 Championship, although he finished well behind his Tom's-Toyota team-mate Carꦗlo Van Dam.

Sꦛtill, having secured a front row grid slot in qualifying, Kunimoto signalled his intentions by leading the qualifying race, even if he would eventually finish behind Edoardo Mortara.

Nonetheless, while weekend pace sette𒐪r Mortara was the big favourite to complete a victory in the final, Kunimoto had other ideas and after beating him down to the opening corner, he survived two safety car periods to resist anything the Italian could throwඣ at him.

Folloꦜwing in the footsteps of Oliver Jarvis, who won for Tom's Toyota in 2007, Kunimoto admits he cannot believe he has joined the likes of Mic😼hael Schumacher and David Coulthard as a Macau Grand Prix winner.

"I am very, very happy and I can hardly believe having actually won the Macau Grand Prix," he said. "Today, I was particularly cautious early in the race because the track was slippery. But then I gave everything. I didn't look back🔯 at the two restarts, I just looked ahead."

"I cannot believe this result, ܫbut my TOM'S team is the best inಞ the world and that is why I could get on top of the podium."
