A tyre failure for Scott Redding on Saturday had seen Michelin plan to replace the original allocation with a new stiffer rear tyre.

However the wet Sunday morning weather meant there was no chance to try the new tyre befor♊e the race and the decision was made to use the original tyres, but with ♋a compulsory bike change.

All riders 🐈were thus forced to pit at the end of their 9th, 10th or 11th𝓰 lap of the reduced 20-lap race. The format was previously seen at Phillip Island in 2013, when Bridgestone had tyre trouble.
